What is a population?

A

The group of people who are the focus of
the researcher’s interest are called the
population (or target population).

What is a sample?

A

group of people taken
from the target population to take
part in the research. It is assumed
that the sample is representative of
the target population.

Stratified Sample

A

dvanced way of sampling where the make-up of
the sample reflects the proportions of certain subgroups in the target population. E.g. is 70% of the
target population are female then 70% of the sample
will be female as well.

Participants are aware their behaviour (CONTEXT)
is being observed, so will be aware of the purpose
