Add a few drops of iodine solution to the food on the spotting tile

The yellow-red iodine will turn blue-black if starch is present.

The blue benedict’s solution will turn brick red on heating if sugar is present

Place a small amount of food into a test tube

Add a few drops of ethanol to the test tube

Shake the test tube and then leave for a minute

Pour the solution into a test tube with water
