What is the function of the vulva?

What is the function of the uterus?
Muscular organ which expands to house Young (foetuses)
Y-shaped organ consisting of 2 horns and a body
What is the function of the cervix?
- seals uterus from vagina
- contains developing foetus
- protects uterus from infection
- remains closed except during oestrus and parturition.
What is colostrum?
The first secretion from mammary glands
Important as it contains antibodies which protect new born animal
What is the function of the penis?
Enters and deposits sperm into vagina during mating
What is the function of the prepuce?
- fold of skin that covers the end of penis
- pushed back during mating to expose penis
What is the function of the bulbo-urethral gland, and prostate gland?
Secrete fluids which flush the urethra and provides a medium for sperm to move during ejaculation.
What is the function of the epididymis?
Tube where sperm matures and is stored
What is the function of the vas deferens?
Carries sperm from the epididymis to the urethra.
What is the function of the scrotum?
Where the testes lie within
Houses them out with abdominal cavity so sperm production can happen. (1-2) lower than abdominal cavity temp.
What is the function of the testes?
- produce sperm
- produce male sex hormone testosterone
What is the function of the urethra?
Carries urine from bladder
Joins vas deferens to carry sperm and spermatic fluids
What is the function of the ovaries?
Where the eggs are produced
Holds a lifetime supply
What is the function of the oviducts? (Fallopian tubes)
Collects eggs as released from ovaries, carries them to uterine horns.
