Q

What is the semi conservative replication model?

A

Where each DNA strand pairs up with a new complementary strand. Resulting in two half old half new strands of DNA.

Q

Major steps of Replication

A
  1. ) Helicase - unwinds DNA at origins of replication
2.) Primase - puts down RNA primer to start replication process
3.) DNA polymerase - adds complementary bases to leading strand ( new 5’ to 3’)
4.) Lagging Strand - grows in the 3’ to 5’ direction by the addition of the okazaki fragments
5.) DNA ligase - seals the fragments together on the lagging strand
