Protein Synthesis - Transcription (1/2) Flashcards
What begins the process of transcriptiom?
mRNA transcribes information from the DNA molecule.
What does the RNA polymerase and mRNA do together?
Work together to open the double stranded DNA, unzipping it till it reaches the gene code for a specific protein.
What happens to floating around mRNA nucleotides?
They bind to open DNA bases on one strand of the double stranded DNA molecule
After mRNA and DNA strand are bonded, what happens
mRNA begins to form a long chain, once the chain is formed it detaches causing the DNA to return back to its double helix shape.
Why is mRNA so small?
It is small because it allows mRNA molecules to get through the nuclear pores and into the cytoplasm of the cell.
