A

Zulu army outmanoeuvres the British at the battle of Isandlwana but British reinforcements defeat the Zulus at their capital, Ulundi in June ‘79. Boers declare total independence in 1880.

Through the humiliating defeat at Majuba Hill in February 1881. GB forced to sign Convention of Pretoria, which recognised self-government in the Transvaal in, though Britain claims rights for foreign affairs.
