What is the role of the care quality commission (CQC) ?
-register care providers
-monitor , inspect and rate services
-take action , including legal action , to protect service users
-be an independent voice ,publishing regional and national views of quality issues in health and social care
What are the 5 questions that the CQC asks when it inspects the service ?
- Is it safe ? The service should protect service users from harm
2.Is it effective ? There should be evidence of good outcomes and quality of life
3.Is it caring ? It should treat everyone with dignity and respect - Is it responsive to people’s needs ? Care should be of high quality , based on individuals needs
5.is it well led ? The service should be organised to meet needs
What is NICE ?
NICE (national institute for health and care excellence )
Provides national guidance and advice on how to improve health and social care
What is the role of NICE ?
-Produce evidence based guidance and advice for service providers
-develop quality standards and performance measurements for organisations which provide and commission health , public health and social care services
-provide a range of information services
What is OFTSTED ?
OFSTED is an independent ,impartial public body that reports directly to parliament
What is the role of OFSTED ?
Achieve excellence by inspecting childcare , adoption and fostering agencies . It publishes reports of its findings to help improve quality and inform policy . It also regulates early years and children’s social care services so they are suitable for children and vulnerable young people
What is public health England (PHE) ?
PHE is a government body that protects and improves Englands health and wellbeing
What is the role of PHE ?
-work as part of regional and local health systems to reduce health inequalities
-protect the health of people in England
-share information and expertise to make improvements in the publics health
-carry out research
