what is the aim of hospice care ?
the aim of hospice care is to improve the lives of people who have a terminal illness that cannot be cured
what is the role of hospice staff ?
-take care of people’s physical , intellectual , emotional and social needs
-aim to control the pain and other symptoms experienced by the patient
-support carers , family members and close friends , during a persons illness and during bereavement , after the person has died and family are grieving
what is the role of palliative care ?
Palliative care is offered to people towards the end of their lives
-its a multidisciplinary approach to specialised medial care for people with serious illness
-it is active and holistic
-focuses on providing patients with relief from symptoms and pain , and the physical and mental stress of a serious illness
what is the goal of palliative care ?
the goal of palliative care is to achieve the best quality of life for patients and their families
palliative care aims to ;
-help people to regard dying as a normal process
-offer support to help patients live as actively as possible until their death
-help relatives cope during the patients illness and their own bereavement
