Regrigerants Flashcards
1
Q
What must a refrigerant have to achieve the absorption and release of heat?
A
A very low boiling point.
Example: R134a Refrigerant
2
Q
What are the temperature ranges for R134a Refrigerant in different states?
A
Solid <-154°F
Liquid -153° to -15°F
Gas > -15°F (Boiling Point)
3
Q
How do we change the boiling point of a component?
A
By either pressurizing it or putting it under a vacuum.
4
Q
How does pressurizing the A/C system affect the boiling point of Refrigerant?
A
At 40PSI, Refrigerant boils at 45°F
At 275PSI, Refrigerant boils at 153°F
5
Q
Where else do we pressurize a system to change the boiling point and why?
A
Cooling System, to increase the boiling point of the Coolant
