How does an Infrared Thermometer work?
A
The heat emitted from the component emits more IR Rays than the ambient air. It compares these readings to give you a temperature reading.

What distance should an Infrared Thermometer be from the component?
A
Depends on Manufacturer, the one below is 12”. Look for Ratio or FOV (Field of View) specifications to determine.
