What is external recruitment?
Posting the job vacancy to get applicants from outside the organisation through recruitment agency, job websites, newspaper or social media.
What are some benefits of external recruitment?
It will increase the number of total staff.
Fresh ideas and ways of working can be brought into the organisation.
It will give the organisation a wider pool of people to choose from.
Compare internal and external methods of recruitment?
Internal recruitment will still leave a vacancy that needs to be filled whereas external recruitment will increase the total number of staff.
Internal recruitment can be motivating for staff if they feel there is a possibility for promotion whereas external recruitment can cause conflict if a new person comes into the department with new ideas/plans.
Internal recruitment can be cost effective as an internal email may be sufficient to inform staff whereas external recruitment can be very expensive as recruitment agency fees are high.
