Reconstructed tanks (chap11 / I -#10) Flashcards
What is definition of reconstructed?
Any work necessary to reassemble a tank that has been dismantled and relocated to a new site.
Tank that has been dismantled and its pieces used together to make a new tank.
For design condition-Where to located the max. allowable stress? and what if it is not located in table?
API 650 table 5.2 (for new+reconstructed), if not , than an allowable stress of value lesser of 2/3 Y or 2/5 of T.
For hydro test condition-Where to located the max. allowable stress? and what if it is not located in table?
API 650 table 5.2 (for new+reconstructed)), if not , than an allowable stress of value lesser of 3/4 Y or 3/7 of T.
Formula to calculate mini thickness of shell of a reconstructed tank?
td=2.6(H-1)DG/SE +CA (no CA for tt)
t=inches
D=ft
H=design liquid level
t=hydrostatic test
d= design condition
E=1 in new tanks (is deseamed if not follow table 4.2)
Difference between Sd and St for new and reconstructed tanks vs existing tanks?
Sd and St for new/reconstructed tanks are LOWER than existing thanks.
Why? B/C they have not proven themselves in hydrostatic test/operational conditions.
Sd/St are the same for all shell courses?
Yes
