Acute monoarthritis

Management of reactive arthritis?

A

Antibiotics and aspirate joint until proven to not be septic arthritis
- Gram stain, culture, sensitivity and crystal examination

When septic excluded:

  • NSAIDs
  • Steroid injections into affected joint
  • Systemic roids may be required if multiple joints affected
