What is Discoid Lupus Erythematosus?
A
Non-cancerous skin condition which is chronic

Who is likely to get dscoid lupus erythematosus?
A
- Women
- Young 20-40
- Darker skinned
- Smokers

Risks when you have DLE?
A
- Increased risk of developing SLE (still <5%)
- Rarely can progress to SCC

Presnetation of DLE?
A
- Lesions typically on face, ears and scalp
- Photosensitive
- Hyper/hypo pigmented scars
- Assoc with scarring alopecia

Inflamed Dry Erythematosus Patchy Crusty and scaling

A
Skin biopsy

Management of DLE?
A
- Sun protection
- Topical steroids
- Intralesional steroid injections
