A
Simple intertrigo
Skin diseases - psoriasis, seborrhoea dermatitis, dermatitis/eczema
Fungal - candida, tinea
Erythrasma
Contact dermatitis

A

Hx fo moisture, maceration, and friction the is strictly confined to opposing skin surfaces

Treatment of simple intertrigo

A

Treat any underlying cause e.g. diabetes, obesity
Use burrow’s solution compress to dry weeping areas.
Keep area dry and skin folds apart if possible
Apply zinc oxide powder - e.g. Curash
Use short term hydrocortisone cream for itch or inflammation (long term aggravates the problem)

A

tends to affect obese or bedridden pt esp with incontinent. Indefinite border with satellite macular lesions at the edge.

Tx of Candida caused rash.

A

Treat underlying cause e.g. diabetes, obesity
Candida - Apply an imidazole (antifungal) preparation such as miconazole or clotrimazole - use ketoconzole if resistant.
Use Burrow’s solution compresses to dry weeping area
Keep area dry and skin folds apart if possible
Apply zinc oxide powder - e.g. Curash
Use short term hydrocortisone cream for itch or inflammation (long term aggravates the problem)

A

Treat underlying cause e.g. diabetes, obesity
Erythrasma - erythromycin or tetracycline and topical imidazole
Use Burrow’s solution compresses to dry weeping area
Keep area dry and skin folds apart if possible
Apply zinc oxide powder - e.g. Curash
Use short term hydrocortisone cream for itch or inflammation (long term aggravates the problem)
