A
Sympathetic dietary advice
Emotional support
Exercise
Counselling to encourage and support behaviour
Wt loss indicated if BMI over 30 or 28+other risk factors
Drugs in combination with lifestyle
- Orlistat in pt that have already lost 2.5kg over 4wk on diet. AE Steatorrhoea and flatulence
- Sibutramine - appetite suppressant. AE HTN and Tachycardia
Bariatric surgery if morbid obesity or obesity + diabetes or severe hyperlipidaemia.
