Q

Raise Speed Limiter (RSL)

A

Functions with servo-valve on hydraulic motor and sending signal to ensure raise speed does not exceed a se threshold

Does not function during lowering

Does not function during Aux Electric mode because it doesn’t use hydraulic servo-valve

Does not function during Aux Hydraulic mode because RMIU part of function is bypassed and Aux Hydraulic control limits the speed

Q

Codes and Raise Modes

A

10XX / 20XX - Run BIT, no recommended mode of recovery

11XX / 21XX - Hold Safety Override for 6 seconds until Safety Override illuminates, then normal hydraulic recovery procedures

12XX / 22XX - Use Aux Electric

13XX / 23XX - Use Aux Hydraulic

Q

Aux Hydraulic

A

Manually control servo valve in event of RMIU fail, bypassing RMIU and RMCU

Bypasses all safety interlocks, does not auto stop transducer at trail position, and does not auto seat or lock transducer

Operatior must manually latch TA

Used if prescribed by emergency procedures or in the event of electrical power loss

No ESD sequence in this mode

Only needs hyd power and 28 Vdc essential power

Most commonly used for correcting miswraps, reseating transducer to obtain a SEATED indication and retrieving transducer when a fault or failure in reeling machine control system has occurred

Q

Aux Electric

A

Uses aux motor to drive gear train assembly

Full safety features and will auto close the array when raise is selected

Auto stop TA at trail position and auto seat and lock when raised into the aircraft

Because of slower raise speed, cable is not sufficiently tensioned which may result in problems if TA has been raised from 1000ft or deeper

Used if prescribed by emergency procedures or in the event of a hydraulic fault

Except when executing emergency procedures, shall only be used when TA is submerged

If raises from >1000ft, cable should be re-tensioned with normal hydraulic mode before resuming dipping

Only operates in the raise direction

Q

Aux Hardware Electric

A

Uses aux motor to drive gear train assembly

Bypasses all safety interlocks, does not stop transducer at trail and has to be manually locked

Raise speed will always be 6ft/sec

Used if prescribed by emergency procedures or as a last resort to recover transducer when there are failures preventing any other mode of operation

Raise direction only
