radiology Flashcards
Appreciate the advantages and disadvantages of the different imaging modalities.
Radiographs- quick and easy to look at bone damage, has overlapping bone, see very little soft tissue Shows bone Cross sectional imaging- Acquires volume, can do before and after treatment to see difference Tissues- bone, soft tissue, fluid and air CT- good for bone as measures density, more detail then Radiograph Shows bone, soft tissue and vessels To see vessels will need contrast MRI- better for soft tissue
Relate the appearance of the normal anatomical structures of the skull,, facial skeleton, brain, cerebellum and brainstem to their radiographic appearance in common imaging modalities such as plain radiographs, C T and MRI.
Recognise important pathology within the head and neck region that will be easily visible on imaging e.g. blood (intracranial haemorrhage), fluid levels, fractures.
