Q

What are the two types of ultrasound transducer and uses?

A

Linear array transducer - mainly used for rectal examinations in large animal - the crystrays produce a rectangular image
sector scanning transducer - most common in small animal. crystals are closer together and fans out into triangular image.

6
Q

Pro’s of using ultrasound?

A

Can differentiate between soft tissue and fluid - radiography cannot.
produces a moving image - important for cardiac
doesnt need sedation or GA
painless
safe
can be used for ultrasound guided biopsies

8
Q

What is MRI used for mainly?

A

Contrasts between soft tissue - good for investigating brain disease, lumboscaral disease, soft tissue orthopaedic conditions and evaluation of nasal and orbital disease.
It gives higher resolution than CT for soft tissue but isn’t good for bone

Q

How does a endoscope work?

A

tiny bundles of glass fibres are gathered together in bundles.
Light is transmitted along these bundles from the light source through the endoscope to the tissue.
the image is then carried back allowing it to be seen by the operator through the eye piece or screen.
