What is pyelonephritis?
A
Infection of the kidney, typically from ascending E coli infection from the urinary tract

How does pyelonephritis present?
A
- More common in younger women
- Fevers and rigors
- Loin pain
- N+V
- Dysuria
- Urinary frequency

How is pyelonephritis managed?
A
- MSU before starting antibiotics
- 7-10 days of Cephalosporin/Quinolone e.g. Ceftriaxone or Ciprofloxacin
