A cause of nephrotic syndrome and CKD common in renal transplant patients

What causes FSG?
A
- Idiopathic
- Secondary to other renal pathology
- HIV
- Heroin
- Alport syndrome

How is FSG investigated?
A
Renal Biopsy - focal and segmental sclerosis on light microscopy and effacement of foot processes on electron microscopy

How is FSG managed?
A
Steroids and immunosuppressants (cyclosporine, tacrolimus or rituximab)
