What are public inquiries? (3)

A

Major investigations convened by government departments. They are given special ‘statutory powers’ to compel testimony and the release of other forms of evidence. Statutory public inquiries under the Inquiries Act 2005 take place into issues of significant public interest, Grenfell 2017.
