What is the problem behaviour theory?

A

There are underlying clusters of risks that predict youth problem behaviour. Both risk and protective factors included. Risk is multiply determined.

What is the idea behind positive youth development?

A

Youth as an asset rather than a problem. Developmental process and an approach to youth programing. Idea that youth have assets to be developed, and if we do them properly, it sets them up for success.

A

1) Support- Positive, caring relationships with adults
2) Empowerment - Encourage youth to act in communities, sense of purpose and value

A
