The cognitive approach stresses the role of cognitive problems such as irrational thinking in abnormal functioning which was founded by Ellis (1962) and Beck (1963)

A

An idea by Beck which proposed that there were three kids of negative thinking which contributed to becoming depressed: negative views of the world; the future and the self. Such negative views lead a person to interpret their experiences in a negative way making them more vulnerable to depression
