involves loss of motor or sensory function. May be caused by stress
Dissociated disorder
separating memories from normal consciousness - inc amnesia, fugue
Charles Bonnet syndrome
Hallucinations (visual or auditory) occurring in clear consciousness
Post traumatic stress disorder Mx
1st - CBT or EMDR
2nd - venlafaxine or sertraline
“Baby blues”
description and Mx
<1 week post natal
Mothers are anxious, tearful and irritable
Mx - reassurance and support
Postnatal depression
Between 1 - 3 months post partum
Features - depression
Mx - reassurance, CBT, SSRIs
Puerperal psychosis
- 2-3 weeks following birth
- Mood swings and disordered perception (e.g. auditory hallucinations)
Mx - admission to hospital

GI upset inc GI bleed
Prolonged QT
Generalised anxiety disorder Mx
1st - Education and support
2nd - CBT
3rd - Sertraline
Olanzapine side effect
weight gain
hyperlipidaemia
Clozapine side effect
agranulocytosis
