What are the 5 patterns of PA?
DIPJ only, RA like (symmetrical small joints), Large joint oligoarthritis, Axial, Psoriatic arthritis mutilans
How does psoriatic arthritis present?
Inflammatory joint pain, plaques of psoriasis, onycholysis, dactylitis, enthesitis
How do you manage psoriatic arthritis pharmacologically?
NSAIDs, steroid injections, DMARDs, TNF inhibitor/monoclonal antibodies, ustekinumab (last line)
What are DMARDs?
Disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs
What DMARDs are options for the treatment of PA?
Sulfasalazine, methotrexate
What would you see on an X-ray?
Erosion in DIPJ, periarticular new bone formation, osteolysis, pencil-in-cup deformity
What is arthritis mulitans?
Most severe form of psoriatic arthritis that occurs in phalanxes
What happens in arthritis mulitans?
Progressive shortening of digits
