what is uterine prolapse
it is the loss of anatomical support for the uterus and abnormal protrusion of the uterus through the pelvic floor aperture

symptoms
vaginal pressure
sensation of something falling out
stress urinary incontinence
constipation
how do patients typically present
firm mass in lower vagina and cervix projecting through the introitus and vaginal inversion with the cervix and uterus projecting between the legs
what is seen on examination
descent of the cervix to the lower third of vagina or through the introitus (opening of the vagina) with being down or straining
diagnosis
based on physical examination
treatment
keg exercises and pelvic floor exercises for prevention
medical treatment = vaginal pessary and use of oestrogen to strengthen tissue tone
surgical treatment
