A
  • Follicular cyst= often asymptomatic but large cyst can cause pelvic pain & dyspareunia  ovarian torsion
  • Follicular cyst = <8cm

what are Lutein cyst

A

pelvic pain, amenorrhoea or delayed menses

• Lutein cyst tend to be larger than follicular cyst, they are also more firm/solid on palpation

treatment

A

dependant on age and size of cyst
 If premenarchal > 2cm treat with exploratory laparotomy
 If in reproductive age and cyst < 6cm; observe for 6 weeks
 If in reproductive age and cyst >8cm; treat with exploratory laparotomy
