Processing Model Flashcards
What is the Information processing model
Information processing is the name given to the process that a performer goes through when they make and act on decisions
What are the four parts of the Information Processing Model
Input, Decision Making, Output, Feedback
What is Input
Depending on the activity this is what the performer receives from their senses either by what they hear, see, touch and smell
What is Decision Making
The selected input data is analysed by the performer and a response is selected. The performer will access memories of similar experiences and will choose the appropriate response
What is Output
The decision made is acted on. Information is sent from the performer’s brain to the working muscles to carry out the required response
What is Feedback
Data is received in response from the output. This can become the input for the future decisions
What are the two types of memory
Short term and Long term
What are the three types of feedback
Intrinsic, Kinaesthetic, Extrinsic
What is Intrinsic feedback
This is feedback received from within the performer
What is Kinaesthetic feedback
This is feedback received from receptors in the muscles.
What is Extrinsic feedback
This is feedback that is received from outside the performer
