What is a Prince principle?
A principle is a core value that must always exist in a Prince2 project.
How to ensure continued business justification?
Project must have a business case with a clear ROI. Remember that the business case is reviewed at every end stage.
How to ensure continued learning (2)?
- It is the responsibility of everyone involved in the project to seek lessons learned rather than waiting to have them provided.
- Document lessesons learned and pass them on.
What are the 3 primary stakeholders in Prince2 projects?
Business sponsors, users and suppliers.
What do business sponsors do?
They make sure the project delivers value for money.
What do the suppliers do?
Provide resources and exportise
What does a good project management structure answer (3)?
- What is expected of me?
- What can I expect from others?
- Who makes which decisions?
A Prince2 project is planned, monitored and controlled on a X basis.
Stage by stage.
How are stages separated?
Stages are separated by decision points aka control points.
What is the consequence of increasing the number of project stages?
Project board gets increased control, but it also creates more overhead.
What are the min number of stages in a project?
- Init and one management stage (closing is then part of the man. stage).
What is the Prince2 term for “a big issue”?
Exception
What qualifies an issue to be an exception?
The issue is outside an agreed tolerance.
What does management by exception mean?
The above layer in the organisation is only notified and involved if issues larger than agreed tolerance limits.
What does the “focus on product” principle imply?
That the product should be thouroughly described. In particular the quality requirements.
