Cancer stats
Around 50% of men and 38% of women develop cancer. Less than 2 % are primary
Primary brain tumors
Tumors that originate from the CNS. Patients who have tumors somewhere else but it metastates to brain is in about 20%.
Cogntitive decline
Primary tumors have less, patients nowadays live longer but have heavy cog decline
Types of brain tumors
Malignant: Cancerous (glioblastoma is most seen and most aggressive)
Nonmalignant: Noncancerous, (most seen is meningioma, different from cancer)
Glioma
High grade glioma: low life expectancy, about 1100 seen py
Lower grade glioma, =about 5 year expect. Nowadays we look at different genes instead of low/high
Most favorable place
Frontal/temporal lobe
