All children complete full course primary and secondary schooling, everyone develops skills to gain meaningful employment. Education empowers individuals and increases their ability to earn an income, understand health promotion messages, exhibit healthy behaviours, and find meaning and purpose in life.
food
Being able to ingest the appropriate nutrients to lead a full life; adequate food intake is both an essential requirement for life and a basic human right.
income
Being able to access adequate financial resources to have a decent standard of living i.e. individual can AFFORD healthcare, education, food, transport, recreation, etc.
stable eco-system
When BALANCE is achieved between the environment and the species that live in an environment. All living things e.g. plants and animals are having their needs for food, water, shelter and reproduction met without causing detrimental effects to the natural environment.
sustainable resources
Ensuring that the resources used to promote health and wellbeing in the present are available for future generations so they too can experience a good quality of life to meet their own needs.
social justice
Equal rights for all, regardless of personal traits such as sex, class and income, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation or gender identity. Being free from discrimination and having human rights upheld.
equity
Relates to social justice with a greater focus on fairness, meaning that those who are disadvantaged receive more support.
malnutrition
A lack of specific nutrients required for the body to function effectively. A malnourished individual may have the required amount of food to sustain life, but they may not be consuming the required range of nutrients which may put their health at risk e.g. low iron intake can lead to iron deficiency anaemia.
undernutrition
When people do not have enough food to meet their daily energy requirements.
food security
The state in which all persons obtain nutritionally adequate, culturally appropriate, safe food regularly through local non-emergency sources.
sustainability
Meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations TO MEET THEIR OWN NEEDS
iron deficiency anaemia
Low red blood cell count causing a lack of oxygen to bodys organs, insufficient hemoglobin. Symptoms include fatigue, pale skin, light headedness, dizziness, fast heartbeat, shortness of breath
