What is the process to prepare an organic liquid?

Answer 1

-Use a separating funnel to remove the organic layer from the aqueous layer
-Organic layer is generally the top layer (except for halogenated alkanes)
-Use drying agents i.e. MgSo4
-Dry with anhydrous salt
-Remove the drying agents use fluted filter paper to filter solids
-Re distillation
- Separate any other liquids or products
-Collect distillate at specific temperature
