What is a sterile cockpit?
A cockpit where only essential communications and actions occur.

When do crewmembers need to have seatbelts and shoulder harnesses on?
Required crewmembers need to have their seatbelts fastened during takeoff, landing, and while enroute while at their station. Shoulder harnesses on during takeoff and landing.
Exception 91.105 states that if the shoulder harness interferes with flying the plane or navigating the harness can be taken off.

When do passengers need to be wearing their seatbelt and shoulder harness?
FAR 91.107 states that the PIC needs to ensure that each passenger is in a FAA approved seat and has on their seatbelt and shoulder harness for takeoff, landing, and before taxi/movement on the surface.
Children under 2 don’t need to be buckled in, only held.
Sport parachute don’t need to be buckled in.

What is the passenger safety brief?
SAFETY
Seatbelts: when to wear them and how they are operated.
Air Vents: where are they?
Fire Extinguisher: where it is and how its operated.

Can you allow passengers to use portable electronic devices onboard the aircraft?
Yes. 91.21 states portable electronic devices are free to be used so long as it doesn’t interfere with the aircraft systems.
For VFR flight anything goes for portable electronic devices.
The restriction only applies to air carriers or any flight under IFR.

What colors are taxiway and runway markings?

What colors are taxiway and runway lights?
taxiway edge lights are blue
taxiway centerline lights are green
Clearance bar and runway guard lights are solid and flashing yellow lights respectively.
Stop bar lights are red and span the whole taxiway and are co-located at taxiway and runway intersections.
runway edge lights are white. The last 2,000’ (or the last half of the runway, whichever is less) will be yellow edge lights to warn pilots they are reaching the end of the runway.
Runway centerline lights are white until the last 3,000’ of the runway where they alternate red and white. The last 1,000’ will be solid red lights for runway edge lighting.
Runway lead on and lead off lights are alternating green and yellow
Threshold lights are green when seen from a landing aircraft and red when seen from the runway.

What is a hotspot?
Hotspots are locations on the airports movement areas that are particularly prone to confusion, hazards, or have a history of accidents or runway incursions.
You can find where the hotspots are on the airport diagram. indicated with a brown symbol starting with the letters HS.

What is a runway incursion? what is a surface incident?
a runway incursion is any occurance at an aerodrome involving the incorrect presence of an aircraft, vehicle, or person on the protected area of a surface designated for the landing and takeoff of aircraft.
If you’re in the runway environment when you shouldn’t be then it is considered a runway incursion. Classified from A-D.
