What is the mechanism of action of Prednisolone?
●Corticosteriod with inflammatory and immunosuppressant actions. It inhibits the production of inflammatory mediators including prostaglandins and luekotrienes, resulting in a reduction of the inflammatory immune response.
What is the indication for prednisolone?
●Child aged less than 10 years of age that requires Prednisone.
●Bronchospasm associated with asthma or COPD.
●Croup.
●Prominent itch associated with Anaphylaxis provided all systemic signs of Anaphylaxis has resolved.
●Minor allergy associated with a rash.
What are the contraindications of Presnisolone?
●Known severe allergy.
What are the cautions of Prednisolone?
●Aged less than 5 with asthma. (Unless a clear history of asthma and has previously received oral steroids.)
What are the side effects of Prednisolone?
●There are none.
