What is the mechanism of action for Methoxyflurane?
●Inhaled analgesia. The MOA is u clear.
What are the indications for methoxyflurane?
●Moderate to severe pain, participants when there is a significant delay for opiate analgesia.
Waht are the contraindications of Methoxyflurane?
●Known severe allergy.
●Personal or family history of malignant hyperthermia.
●Known renal impairment.
Had within the last week. (Increases risk of renal impairment.)
What are the cautions of Methoxyflurane?
●Aged greater than 75 years old, particularly frail.
●Pre-eclampsia (renal impairment is likely.)
●Confined space.
●Acute exacerbation of chronic pain.
What is the adult dose of Methoxyflurane?
●Maximum of 6mls for aged 12 years and over.
What are the side effects of Methoxyflurane?
●Sedation.
●Feeling lightheaded.
