What is the mechanism of action of Glucagon?
A
●Stimulates Glycogenolysis (breakdown of glycogen into glucose) within the liver. Thus increasing the BGL.

What is the indication for glucagon?
A
●Hypoglycaemia when the patient cannot safely swallow food and no IV access can be obtained.

What are the contraindications of Glucagon?
A
●Known severe allergy.

●There are none.

What is the adult dose of Glucagon?
A
●1mg IM for equal to 5 years of age and over. No repeat.
●0.5mg IM for a child aged less than 5 years of age. No repeat.
