Power Plant Flashcards
What does the WML indication on the EICAS mean?
Indicates an engine flameout and the respective engine is windmilling
Which rotor is the LP and HP valve related to?
LP - N1
HP - N2
Engine vibration operational range
0 - 3.9 Normal range
4.0 - 5.0 Amber
During ignition, when does the aircraft close the Starter Control Valve?
At 50% N2, the valve is closed. Once the engine is ate idle, the ignition is turned off.
FADEC start protections
On Ground
- Hot starts
- Hung starts
- No light off starts
In Flight
- No Light Off Starts
At what temperature does the hot start protection automatically shutoff the engine?
740 celcius
Engine ignition components
Each engine has two ignition exciters, two ignitions leads, and two igniters
When is each igniter used for ignition?
One Ignitor
- Ground start
Two Ignitors
- Air start
- Flameout s
- Loss of arinc BUSSES
- Missed light-off
- continuous ignition request from pilot
When the start knov is set to OVRD position, the FADEX continuously activated both igniters when the engine is running.
How long does the ignition remain ON after flameout detection has been cleared?
Will remain ON for 5 seconds, and if you don’t get a relight within 30 seconds while the N2 rotation is below idle, moving the START/STOP selector knob to the STOP position will terminate the auto relight.
Travel range of the thrust lever
85 degrees
Thrust lever positions
Max reverse
Min reverse
IDLE
Takeoff/Go Around
MAX power
What prevents power below IDLE detent in flight?
Two electrical idle stop solenoids, one for each thrust lever. They allow for reverse thrust immediately after touchdown and during ground operations
ATTCS meaning
Aautomatic Ttakeoff
Tthrust
Ccontrol
System
When does the ATTCS activate?
TO/GA position during takeoff or go-around
What happens when fire protection handle is pulled?
- Fuel shutoff valve
- Hydraulic system shutoff
-High pressure shutoff valve
-Engine bleed valve
