Electrical System Flashcards
What are the AC power sources
- 2 IDG
-1 APU
-1 DC to AC inverter
-RAT - AC GPU
Alt limit for the APU to provide power inflight
33,000 ft
Are the main AC sources independent?
Yes, each can provide enough AC power for the whole plane independently.
What are the backup sources of AC power?
AC inverter and RAT
What is the DC system composed of?
3 TRU
2 NiCad batteries
1 DC GPU (APU start only)
Purpose of DC GPU
In case the battery #2 voltage is not sufficient, it can be connected to the aircraft. Its only use is to power the APU
What happens if you lose an AC BUS?
The BUS TIE CONNECTOR interconnects the two networks with no significant degradation of system operation
Volts and HZ of AC power sources
115 V AC, 400 Hz
APU load rating
40 kVA
What does the AC GPU have priority over?
Only the batteries
Where is the RAT located?
Right nose area
What is the RAT`s power output?
15 KVA, 115 V, 400 Hz
When is the RAT deployed and is there any altitude restriction?
Automatically deployed if the AC buses are not powered in flight, or manually deployed by a handle. There is no altitude restriction.
How long after the RAT is deployed, does it provide power to the AC ESS BUS?
The RAT will provide power 8 seconds after it is deployed, and the DC ESS BUSES are powered through the ESS TRU. Batteries provide power to the DC ESS BUSES during these 8 seconds.
Minimum airspeed for RAT to provide energy?
130 knots minimum. Below 130 knots, the RAT will supply power only to the AC ESS BUSES, and the batteries to the DC ESS BUSES.
