How many fire detectors does the APU have?
2 pneumatic fire detectors in two loops operated by MAU 1 and MAU 3
How long does it take for the APU to automatically shutdown if there is a fire with the aircraft on ground?
10 seconds
CAn a fire be detected if one of the loops is inop?
Yes. The single loop mode provides the same indications to the flight crew as those provided in the “both” loop mode.
How many fire extinguishers does the APU have?
1, located in the rear fuselage, powered by the DC ESS BUS 2.
When does the RED light on the APU emergency stop button turn off?
Turns on automatically after 1 minutes if no crew action is taken, and turns off after fire has been put out.
What does the fire extinguisher handle turn off?
Bleed air, fuel, hydraulic shutoff valves, and x bleed.
How many fire detectors in each cargo compartment?
4 in the forward and 3 in the aft
How many fire extinguishing bottles for engines?
2 bottles, both can be routed to either engine
What happens when you press the CARGO SMOKE extinguisher button once?
Releases the high rate bottle and arms the low rate bottle
When does the low rate bottle automatically discharge?
Only in flight. To discharge on ground, you must manually press the button a second time. If it is not pressed a second time withing 2 minutes after arming, the system will reset. Another way to reset the system is to press the fire test button.
What happens if the cargo fire extinguisher button is pressed without a fire?
It will arm the high rate bottle, and pressing again withing 2 minutes, will discharge the high rate bottle.
What powers the lavatory fire detectors?
Forward - MAU 1 - DC BUSS 1
Aft - MAU 2 - DC BESS 2
