Landing Gear Flashcards
Which system powers the landing gear?
Hydraulic system 2
How many ways can you lower the landing gear?
- Landing Gear Lever
- Electrical Override Switch
-Two position Alternate Gear Extension Lever
What powers Nose Wheel Steering
It’s a steer by wire system that operates using pressure from hydraulic system 2.
Nose Wheel Steering Range
76 degrees but is reduced linearly at ground speeds above 40 KTS to 100 kts
What hydraulics systems power each brakes?
System 1 - outboard brakes
System 2 - inboard brakes
How many weight on wheel sensors are there>
6, One for each wheel
When does the Landing gear DN message appear in RED?
If a disagreement occurs for more than 20 seconds between the landing gear lever position and the detected (up or down) gear position, the position indicator changes from its previous color to red. In this situation, the crew will follow the appropriate abnormal procedure.
Explain Alternate Landing Gear lever
Pulling up the alternate gear lever:
• Actuates the free-fall selector valve, releasing all residual hydraulic pressure in the landing gear lines.
• Mechanically releases all landing gear uplocks.
Gravitational and aerodynamic forces extend the landing gear.
In what conditions, cant you silence the landing gear aural warning by pushing the inhibition button?
With the Flap lever in any position:
• Radio altitude below 700 ft AGL, and
• Either thrust lever is set below 38° for two operative engines, or
• Thrust lever is set below 57° for a one-engine inoperative condition.
With the flap lever in landing position 5 or full:
• Regardless of thrust lever position and radio altitude, the landing gear aural warning cannot be silenced by pushing the landing gear warning inhibition button.
What brakes do you have is both hydraulic systems fail?
Emergency/Parking break
What is the locked wheel protection?
Prevents tire bursting due to wheel locking
Why is there a tolerance between wheel allowed wheel speeds?
Max wheel speed tolerance is 33%. This is to provide differential braking.
Above what speed do you have anti skid protection?
10 knots
How many applications does the emergency braking have?
The system has pressure accumulators isolated from the normal supply It has sufficient to provide full-brake applications
