What is the carotid sheath?
A tubular facial investment that extend from the cranial base and the root of the neck.
What are the three layers of the deep cervical fascia?
The investing, pretracheal, and prevertebral layers.
What is the lesser supraclavicular fossa?
The space that separate inferiorly the two head of the SCM.
What form the borders of the posterior cervical region (lateral in book)?
Anteriorly by the posterior border of SCM
Posteriorly by the anterior border of the Trapezius
Inferiorly by the middle third of the clavicle between the trap and scm
The roof of the posterior cervical triangle is formed by what?
Investing layer of deep cervical fascia.
The floor of the posterior cervical triangle is formed by what?
Muscles covered by the prevertebral layer of deep cervical fascia.
What are the four muscles that are covered by the floor of the PCT?
Splenius capitus, levator scapulae, middle scalene, and posterior scalene.
What is the omoclavicular triangle?
Formed by the inferior belly of the omohyoid, the clavicle and the SCM.
What spinal nerves supply the roots of the brachial plexus?
C5-C8 and T1
What spinal nerves make up the roots of the cervical plexus?
C1-C4.
Lesser occipital nerve root?
C2
Great auricular nerve root?
C2 and C3
Transverse cervical nerve root?
C2 and C3
Supraclavicular nerve root?
C3 and C4
Phrenic nerve root?
C4 primarily but with contributions from C3 and C5
