What is a single party system? give an example
Only one party is allowed/ Dictators
Nazi Germany, communist Russia
What’s a two party system? give an example
May be more then 2 party’s but these 2 dominate the political system
e.g Republicans Vs Democrats in USA
Conservatives and Labor in Uk 2 parties have been in power since 1923
What’s a dominant party system? example
Their are multiple party systems however one specific government dominates it for a specific amount of time
e.g. Conservatives 1979-1997
Labour 1997-2010
Conservatives 2010- present day
What’s a multi party system? an example
all party’s are represented in government, several party’s at one time have experience of the gov
e.g Germany 7 parties with 40 seats

-2015 general election 13.5% of voters voted for a party that wasn’t labour or conservative (61% of scottish voters)
-2019 in Scotland SNP got 48% getting 45% of the seats in Scotland
-Any party can yay was able to mobilise non voters would stand a chance in winning the election, in 2015 that was 33.8% of registered voter
-Minority party’s success in elections, Brexit party 30% in 2018 Eu parliament elections, Lib dem 2500 local clinchers and 372 Green
