Theresa May stated it was because she wanted to strengthen her hand in British negotiations wanted lager majority

How popular were the government at the time in the election called?
Conservatives- well liked, mainly voted for the brexit policies, but lost a lot due to deal with DUP
-Labour: disliked due to hate from jeremy Corbyn
-Lib dem: disliked due to corruption of coalition govt, remainers
