Pneumatic Flashcards
The 3 sources or high pressure air for pneumatic system are
Engine bleed, APU bleed, and 2 external HP air ground connections
Pneumatic system operation is controlled and monitored by
2 bleed Monitoring Computers
High pressure air for pneumatic system is supplied from engine bleed air systems,
APU load compressor, two HP ground connections
HP pneumatic air is used for Engine starting,
Hydraulic reservoir pressurization, air conditioning, wing anti icing water pressurization and pack bay ventilation turbofan actuation
If engine bleed valve closes,
The HP valve closes automatically
The temperature is regulated by
Precooler to 200ºC
Precooler outlet temperature green ECAM BLEED page displays changes to amber if the outlet temperature is
290ºC more than 5 sec; 270ºC more than 15 sec; 257ºC more than 55 seconds
APU speed more than 95% and APU BLEED pb sw ON:
APU bleed valve opens; crossbleed valve opens; ON in APU BLEED pb sw illuminates
APU normal speed, APU BLEED pb ON
APU bleed valve opens, crossbleed valve opens, engine bleed valves close
BMCs receive bleed pressure, temperature, valve position information are connected to
other systems requiring bleed information
Pneumatic system operation is controlled and monitored by
2 Bleed Monitoring Computers
Two BMC supply information to ECAM and
Central Maintenance Computer
APU and Engines on, APU BLEED pb sw is ON,
ENG bleed valves close, crossbleed valve opens, APU bleed valve opens
Crossbleed valve with two electric motors
One for automatic, the other for manual mode
In case of a left wing leak signal Eng 1 bleed valve and HP valve automatically close
If crossbleed valve open it automatically closes (except during engine start or manually selected open); APU bleed valve is open, it automatically closes.
