What is the function of the stem
- To transport water and nutrients from roots to leaves
- Support leaf, fruit and flower
- Food storage
What is the node of stem and what does it do.
It is the area where buds, leaves, and flowers grow. The area right below those organs. This part of a plant contains the meristematic tissue. Responsible for the growth of new cells.
What is an internode
The area between the nodes. They help with the elongation of the stem, which increases the height of a plant.
What is the purpose of of the xylem
To transport the water and nutrients from the soil to the other parts of the plants, move things up
What is the purpose of the phloem
To transport the products of photosynthesis, glucose and oxygen, made in the leaves, to other parts of the plant, move things down.
What is the purpose of the pith
To mainly store and secondarily transport nutrients, throughout the plant.
