plant hormones Flashcards
if plants get light for all directions what why do they grow
straight up
if plants get light from one direction what way do they grow
they will bend towards the light so they can get as much light for photosynthesis
what is the plants light response called
phototropism
what is phototropism controlled by
by a hormone called auxin it makes cells elongate (get longer)
how does phototropism work
the tip of the shoot makes auxin
the auxin moves to the shaded side of the shot
the cells on the shaded side elongate
the shoot bends towards the light
where is auxin produced
the tip of the shoot
if you are asked to draw the shoot bending towards the light then draw it longer than the previous diagram it will have grown taller
