Plant And Animal Cells - Biology Flashcards
Function of nucleas
Controls all activities of the cell. Contains genes and chromosomes that are vital in order to create new cells or organisms.
Function of the cytoplasm
A liquid gel were organelles are suspended and where chemical reactions take place in order to allow for life
Cell membrane function
Controls the passage of the glucose and mineral irons going into the cell. Also controls the movement coming out of the cell
Ribosomes function
Where proteins synthesis occurs, meaning protein is produced that is needed for the cell
Chloroplast function
Found in green parts of a plant. They contain chlorophyl which absorbs light letting photosynthesis ocurr
Permanent vacuole function
Filled with cell sap inside. Keeps cells rigid for support of plant
Cell wall function
Keeps structure of the cell and protects it. Has 3 layers
What do root cells do
Underground which means they don’t synthesise sunlight cannot reach it
What are animal and plant cells examples of
Eukaryotic cells
What does a eukaryotic cell need
Cell membrane, cytoplasm and genetic material that is enclosed in the nucleas
What does a prokaryotic cell have
Flagella, cytoplasm, slime capsule, cell wall, plasmids, cell membrane and genetic material
What is resoloution
The ability to distinguish between two separate points using a microscope
What does magnifying an image on a microscope do
Make it bigger and more detailed
