Nafferton - What did the Local Boroughs Core Strategy and the New Local Plan set out with regard to the CIL and its applicability?
Nafferton is located within the East Riding of Yorkshire Council as the CIL schedule was slightly out of date I had to use the RICS CIL index against the rate in which had been indicated for the use of residential properties.
Nafferton - Explain how you produced the review of the local and regional CIL requirements.
I provided the client with the latest CIL schedule along with the RICS CIL Index to notify him that a CIL charge will be needed.
How is CIL calculated?
In this instance it was the rate which was identified within the CIL schedule, indexed to todays date using the RICS CIL Index, and then multiplied against the GIA.
Tell me about an example of when you have submitted a planning application.
For Bellamy and Byng’s original application, I worked with the planning consultants and inputted the schemes Financial Viability Assessment which also included a Housing Needs Report.
Tell me about an example of when you have applied pre-consultation and negotiation processes to the planning application process.
For Nafferton I had initial discussions with the local planning authority to understand any concerns they may have for this development. By engaging with these meetings I was able to identify the type of need that was required for that area due to it being a rural exemption site.
Tell me about an example of when you have participated in the formulation of spatial planning strategies.
Wandsworth Gasholders - Reviewed draft local plan & affordable housing policy. Identified concerns in typologies, appraisal outputs, etc. Presented findings to client, drafted comprehensive letter for Council. Enhanced research, analysis, communication skills.
Tell me about an instance of when you have interpreted strategic planning policies
One Housing - Conducted written representation on affordable housing under regulation 18. Analysed draft local plan, affordability calculations, and data on keyworkers. Presented reasoned perspective to advocate for increased low-cost rental provision. Applied research to influence policy discourse, enhancing advocacy and analytical skills.
How have you applied your knowledge to identify, select, assemble and analyse information relevant to the preparation or determination of appropriate planning applications?
Southwick - Identified key components for an outline project brief, including stakeholder preferences and objectives. Compiled options analysis with financial tests and policy considerations. Assembled data from diverse sources like local plans, housing assessments, and CACI income statistics. Analysed findings to recommend optimal development strategy, enhancing analytical and decision-making skills.
How have you supported the making of planning applications and/or appeal documentation?
How have you selected, researched and analysed information and data and writing reports in support of or in response to planning applications?
Nafferton - Identified local housing needs through Census, Local Housing Needs Assessments, and ONS data. Analysed survey results to assess current and future housing demands. Compiled data into a comprehensive presentation to support the application.
How have you identified and implemented appropriate consultation procedures and responded to issues identified?
Southwick Estate - I attended Resident Working Group Sessions to gather feedback on the number of options that had bene put forward. I implemented this feedback into an options response presentation which was presented to the client.

Bellmay and Byng - Providing multiple options for the scheme, one of them was to alternate the sizes of units.
