recurrent atraumatic hemarthrosis
What is the appearance of PVNS?
radiographs- can show cystic erosions
MRI- low intensity nodulatrity on T1, T2 (due to hemosiderin)
histology- hemosiderin stained giant cells
arthroscopic- frond like brownish synovium
How is PVNS treated?
Total synovectomy (recurrence 30-50%), adjuvant radiation reduces recurrence to 10-25%
